Aluminium or bamboo pens?
Aluminium ball pens feel solid, engrave to a bright clean mark and suit corporate use, conferences and client packs. Bamboo pens read as the more natural, lower impact choice and are popular with charities, eco brands and public sector buyers.
Both are laser engraved rather than printed, so the branding lasts as long as the pen does.

Laser engraving on a pen barrel
The engraving area on a pen barrel is narrow, typically a strip of around 40 to 50mm long and only a few millimetres tall. That constraint decides everything about the artwork.
Engraving is single tone, so colour logos become one colour. A horizontal logo lockup or a wordmark works best; stacked logos and straplines usually need to be simplified or dropped.

Where branded pens actually pay off
Pens do their best work where people take one and keep it: reception desks, exhibition stands, delegate bags, school open days, estate agent viewings and invoice packs. Because unit cost is low, ordering enough to leave them everywhere is the point.
Pairing pens with a branded notebook makes a cheap but genuinely useful delegate or new-starter pack.

Pens are priced in quantity tiers and get significantly cheaper per unit at higher volumes, so ordering for the year rather than the event usually saves money.

How are branded pens personalised?
The pens we supply are laser engraved. The laser marks the barrel permanently, so unlike a printed pen the branding cannot rub off in a bag or pocket.
How big is the engraving area on a pen?
Typically a strip around 40 to 50mm long and a few millimetres tall on the barrel. A single-line horizontal logo or wordmark works best in that space.
Can I have a full colour logo on a promotional pen?
Engraving is a single tone, so colour logos are converted to one colour. We confirm exactly how it will look as part of the free file check before production.
How many branded pens should I order?
Unit cost falls sharply with quantity, so most buyers order enough to cover a year of events and reception use rather than a single occasion.
